Care Quality Commission - "Long way to go"

The CQC was set up in 2009 and regulates 21,000 providers of health and social care, including hospital and care homes.

 

The CQC has come under heavy criticism recently, which has already prompted the resignation of head Cynthia Bower. The CQC claims to have made “significant improvements”, but MPs remain concerned about the challenges it will face later this year as it attempts to register and assess 10,000 GP practices.
