GMC fight EU regulation change

The amendments would potentially allow the GMC just two weeks to decide whether or not to register a European Doctor. If the GMC fails to respond in this timeframe doctors could theoretically start working in the UK without being registered.   

 

GMC chief executive Niall Dickson said ‘We don’t regard that as satisfactory. We still find examples where issuing authorities have made mistakes, where we have to be sure of the identity of the doctor and that we are confident that the documentation they are producing is right.’
