Southampton and John Radcliffe hospitals become major trauma centres

Andy Eynon, Director of Major Trauma at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust described this development is one of the “most exciting in the NHS for a generation”.

 

As of today, all major trauma patients will bypass their local hospital and travel straight to Southampton or Oxford. It is anticipated that this new system could save up to 20% more lives per year.
