Stem Cell research facility opens in Scotland

30 May 2012

HRH The Princess Royal has opened a new stem cell research facility in Edinburgh. This has been funded in part by The British Heart Foundation “Mending Broken Hearts Appeal”, who donated £1 million to the project.

The Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine (SCRM) will carry out cutting-edge research to help develop new therapies that could potentially be used to treat heart failure and repair hearts following heart attack.

Marjory Burns, Director of BHF Scotland said “we’re tremendously grateful to the generous supporters of our Mending Broken Hearts Appeal – they helped make this possible.”
