Is lack of exercise deadlier than obesity?

A new study has suggested that being inactive could be twice as fatal as being obese.

Even as little as a 20 minute walk every day, is enough to reduce risking of an early death by as much as 30%, according to the British researchers.

The risk reduction was found in people with normal weight and who were overweight and obese. Ekelund said, “We estimated that eradicating physical inactivity in the population would reduce the number of deaths twice as much as if obesity was eradicated,”.

He also added that it is just as important to increase levels of physical activity as it is to reduce obesity levels.
